Student of the Semester: Teagan Schippert

By Ashlynn Peters and Aleigha Slagle

Teachers recently nominated outstanding students of the semester to appreciate their hard work and dedication. These students are highlighted for their academic accomplishments and attitude toward their studies and their peers. Teagan Schippert, an eighth grader, was chosen as a Student of the Semester.

When it comes to Teagan’s biggest motivation, it is herself. “I push myself very hard to do well and be successful.” As a student, she challenges herself to be the best she can be.

Positive influences in her life help Teagan meet this goal. “My role model is Mr. Butchy. He gives the best advice and usually is in a good mood with a smile on his face,” she noted. “[Like him,] I want to do what I love while also helping others. I also want to be able to lead others to their success. That is what Mr. Butchy does for me.”

Their respect is mutual, as Mr. Buthcy shared, “Teagan is always ready with a ‘Hello’ and a smile on her face. She is an extremely hard worker and leads by example.” Science teacher Mr. Drozynski also recognizes Teagan’s strengths of “learn[ing] easily and having a delightful personality.”

Teagan’s favorite class this year is Algebra with Mrs. Crawford. “I like algebra because it has always been something that I am good at and enjoyed. I also like that there is one direct answer in math.” Her algebra teacher, Mrs. Crawford, stated, “Teagan is an amazing hard worker with an awesome attitude! She is always willing to try the difficult questions and think outside of the box.”

“Teagan is a very responsible student who always has her work done and is prepared for class.  She actively participates and listens,” explains English teacher Mrs. Barron.  “Teagan takes pride in her work and always strives to do her best.  Her written work is well-organized and sophisticated, and her high level of comprehension allows her to make sound inferences.  In addition to her impressive academic performance, Teagan is also polite, kind, and respectful.”

Teagan is involved in many activities. Volleyball, softball, jazz band, marching band, and pep band take up the majority of her time here at Shenango. That does not stop Teagan from accomplishing her academic goals. She is also a member of the National Junior Honor Society and Student Council.

She has always stayed true to her definition of being a successful student. Her strongest traits involve “caring about grades, taking the time to do homework, and studying for quizzes.”

Teagan’s accomplishments have been shown inside and outside of the classroom. Congratulations and good luck for the rest of the school year, Teagan!
