Class of 2023 Top 10: Janie Natale

by Jadyn Barker and McKenna Lutton

Janie Natale is a hard-working, dedicated, and model student. From the court to the classroom, she gives it her all, which means her spot in the top 10 does not come as a surprise to her teachers and peers.

While her academic career has had bumps along the way, Janie was able to stay motivated and excel in her studies. AP Chemistry in particular proved to be quite difficult.  Even in the face of challenges, Janie always kept the big picture in mind. “My goals have motivated me to excel in the classroom. I knew I wanted to go to college and obtain a stable job, and that journey began with Shenango.”

When Janie thinks about the role Shenango has played in her future she believes, “the hard curriculum has helped to prepare me for the next phase of my life.” Some of her most cherished memories come as a result of being a student at Shenango, especially winning the class 2A Girls Basketball WPIAL title with her best friends and incredible coaches.

The wisdom Janie offers to those who follow in her footsteps is to “always work hard. Do not sacrifice something you want now for what you truly want: your ultimate goal,” she advises.  “Take risks and enjoy where you are, because life can change so fast.”  She also emphasizes cherishing the relationships formed with both teachers and friends during high school, as those are what she will carry with her even after she graduates.

Janie has a bright future ahead of her as she will be attending Penn State University to major in biomedical engineering. To lead her into her future, she has chosen Mrs. Allen to accompany her to the Top Ten dinner because she feels a personal connection with her.

When reminiscing about the past, she wishes she could tell her younger self, “Be more confident and don’t stress the little things. Life is too short.”

Congratulations, Janie!
