Top 10 of 2022: Hannah Yeykal

by Audrey Angelucci and Aryssa Peters

Hannah Yeykal has proven herself a well-rounded student throughout her years of high school. She has learned to effectively balance her academics, as well as her athletic career. Her determination has earned her a much-deserved spot in the top 10 of the class of 2022.

Yeykal credits her mom for her academic success in her life. “She taught me to have a good work ethic and to go after what you want.” Hannah’s mother has also been her biggest fan and life coach, giving her lots of advice. “My mother taught me everything I know and she motivated me to always be the best I could be.”

Her work ethic has persevered with some of the most difficult courses at Shenango. Yeykal states, “AP Chemistry has been tough because there was a lot of work you had to do and the material was hard.” With her motivation, she was able to overcome and succeed.

Hannah’s ambitious personality has clearly shown in the classroom and has motivated her never to stop challenging herself. “I’d be disappointed in myself if I didn’t perform to my full potential in life.”

She brings this mindset to her favorite sport, track and field. “Track teaches you a competitive nature and to enjoy the fun environment.”

Facing the next chapter is a milestone that Hannah both anticipates and looks at with trepidation.  “It’s going to be the hardest not being able to see my friends every day.”  However, Yeykal is confident that Shenango has prepared her for her future. Having the freedom to choose certain classes has been very beneficial to her. “Psychology has been the most rewarding elective that has taught me what I want to do in my future.”

For the future upcoming graduates, she advises them with wise words. “Always be true to yourself and do not change a thing just to fit in with other people.”

Hannah’s future plans include attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania to major in Psychology and minor in Spanish. She also plans to continue her track career.
