Student of the Semester: Addie Mitcheltree

By Aleigha Slagle

Dedicated, hard-working, and upbeat are three ways to describe Addie Mitcheltree. Her teachers selected her as one of the eighth-grade Students of the Semester. These teachers collectively agree that Addie’s smile is contagious.

Addie’s passion and drive allow her to excel in the goals that she sets for herself. She is always working to make improvements in everything that she does. Band director Mr. Butchy explained, “Addie set a goal for herself this year to make improvements on the clarinet and I’m really proud of her accomplishments.”

Addie strives to reach the goals she sets for herself not only in band but in her school work and extracurricular activities as well. Social Studies teacher Miss Schuster describes Addie as “well organized and thorough with her work,” and applauds “her positive toward learning.” Addie never gives up on any task she is given.

Addie loves school and learning very much. School is at the top of her priority list. “I try not to miss school and I try to stay on top of my school assignments while managing extracurricular activities,” she stated. School motivates Addie because “working hard now will help me accomplish goals in the future,” she stated. Her favorite subject in school is “English with Mrs. Barron” because “Mrs. Barron helps us truly understand what we are learning,” Addie shared.

Addie’s role model is her mom. She admires how “hard she works and the care she has for her students and family.” Addie hopes to be a loving mom and teacher just like her mom one day.
