Running Toward the Future

This senior’s achievements can honestly speak for themselves. There is no doubt that Carmen Medvit is an extremely hard worker, and that work ethic has landed her a place among Shenango’s Top 10 seniors.
Many students credit their parents with being their biggest influence, and Medvit’s parents are no different. “They always push me to do my best in all my subjects.”
Carmen’s focus and “the reward of having good grades has kept me motivated.” According to Medvit, the class that challenged her the most was AP Chemistry, as “it was a very rigorous class and there was a lot of work that came along with it. I really had to manage my time well to be able to do all of the work.”
The dedication that Carmen invests in her academics is balanced by the passion and drive she’s found through her immense success as a runner. In fact, Medvit is the school’s first cross country state champion. The joy she’s found through “cross country and track have brought me accomplishments that I only thought I could achieve in my dreams.”
Another love that Carmen discovered as a Wildcat is that of the Spanish language. “I absolutely loved learning a different language these past four years,” she notes.
Robert Morris University is the next stop on Carmen’s journey where she’ll major in psychology with a specialization in sports psychology. Not surprisingly, she’ll be running cross country and track. “Shenango has prepared me by giving me all the skills I’ll need in college and even after that in the future.”
Carmen’s words to those who follow in her footsteps are to “enjoy your senior year while it’s still within reach.”
